The Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition, the Colorado Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians all recommend H1N1 influenza vaccination for :
- All Children ages 6 months to 24 years, especially those with underlying health conditions.
- Pregnant women
- Parents/caretakers for children younger than 6 months
In order to help parents obtain the H1N1 immunization for their students, Dolores Schools will be hosting The Montezuma County Health Dept. in a H1N1 immunization clinic in the school on December 4th, 2009. The Health Dept. will have the injectable vaccine, and if possible, (depending on the shipments they receive) nasal spray. This clinic will be for all students Pre-School thru 12th grade, but will not be open to the community at this time. The clinic will be in the Competition (old) gym from 8:30 to 11:00.
The immunization will be free of charge and will be given by Health Dept. nurses. If you wish for your student to participate and receive their immunization at school, please fill out the permission slip and return to the school office before December 3rd, 2009.
If you have any questions, please contact Kim Ackles R.N., Dolores RE-4A School Nurse at 882-4688 or the Montezuma County Health Dept. at 565-3056.
